Founder of SM Healing Hands Wellness Center

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your interest in learning more about me. I hope that you will provide me with an opportunity to become a part of your healthcare journey and to find answers for you and your loved ones. SM Healing Hands Wellness Center came into existence after Dr. Seshagiri Rao retired in August 2020. He proudly served the Autism and PANDAS/PANS community for over 20 years. I have personally witnessed him helping hundreds of families with their suffering. I was very fortunate that he was my mentor for the last three years and taught me many valuable lessons. SM Healing Hands is my small effort to continue his legacy to help families find relief from their sufferings.

About me

I was born and raised in Pakistan. In 1995, I received my first Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Karachi. My initial plan was to become a CPA but God had a different plan for me.

In 2005, my middle daughter was diagnosed with severe peanut allergy. Accidental exposure to the nuts caused her to be in ICU, fighting for her life, at the age of 2. As a mother, I felt broken, clueless, and hopeless. I had so many questions for the medical team but no one was able to understand my suffering. This incident became a turning point in my life. I wanted to help my family and the people around me. I soon realized that I wanted to be a nurse and support others physically, emotionally, and spiritually when they are unable to help themselves.

In 2011, I finished my basic nursing education and became a Registered Nurse. I also gave birth to my third child during my nursing program. My Ob/Gyn suspected that my child had a genetic disorder called Down Syndrome. I opted out of any genetic testing and made prayers my best friend. Miraculously, my prayers were heard and I was blessed with a beautiful and healthy baby girl.

I started my nursing career at Parkland Hospital. In 2013, I received my second Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Arlington and started working on the ICU stepdown unit at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center. I went on and received Progressive Care Certified Nursing Certification while working full-time. I always enjoyed mentoring newly graduate nurses. Learning and teaching became my passion. I never felt satisfied with the knowledge that I already possessed. The hunger for more knowledge led me to the path of Nurse Practitioner.

In 2018, I graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi with my Master’s Degree in Nursing and received Family Nurse Practitioner license. I started my career at Allergy and Asthma Treatment Center in Plano Texas, with Dr. Seshagiri Rao as my mentoring physician. This was the first time when I got exposed to the holistic approach to health and well-being. I became fascinated with biomedical treatment in children with special needs. Helping children with PANDAS/PANS felt so rewarding to me. I was also very fortunate to be able to work with Dr. Randy Naidoo at Shine Pediatrics during the last year.

I knew the sky was my limit. My passion for becoming an expert in the integrative and functional medicine and nutritional field led me to the Functional Medicine University, Functional Nutritional Alliance program with Andrea Nakayama, and the Kalish Institute with Dr. Dan Kalish. Currently, I am working towards the above three certifications. I have also completed the online Autism Mastery Course with Dr. Kurt Woeller from an Integrative Medicine Academy.

I live in Frisco with my husband and three beautiful girls Aleeza, Areen, and Ayra. My hobby is praying, reading books, spending time with my family and friends, and volunteering at the refugees’ services.
